Memory Foam Insoles: Dangerous When Worn Too Long

⚠️ This was the direct cause of my plantar fasciitis.

What Happened?

I wore Skechers memory foam shoes for a long time. Over time, the memory foam broke down right under the toes — where the most weight is applied. But it wasn't visible from the outside, so I kept wearing them without knowing.

Why Is It Dangerous?

  • Memory foam loses elasticity and breaks down over time
  • Broken areas lose cushioning, transmitting impact directly to your foot
  • It looks fine from outside, so you keep wearing them unknowingly

Prevention

  • Check memory foam insole condition every 6-12 months
  • If it doesn't spring back when pressed, replace it
  • Consider regular cushioned shoes (like New Balance 1080) instead
